Job Title: Delivery Driver SH0055, SH9999 Job Description General Description/Purpose The primary function of the Delivery Driver is to plan and execute delivery activities in ways that maintain the Lowe's brand while at customers' homes. This includes preparing delivery loads, following planned delivery routes, and assisting with merchandise installations or returns. The Delivery Driver is responsible for unloading, installing, and checking appliances and store equipment. The Delivery Driver is also responsible for the cleanliness and standard maintenance of delivery vehicles, and observing safety procedures regarding Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations, Hazmat, and power equipment tools. This includes maintaining DOT and CDL certifications and complying with reporting. Lastly, the Delivery Driver is responsible for completing all other duties as assigned. Work Schedule Requires morning, afternoon, and evening availability any day of the week. Required to work a Corporate schedule determined by Staffing Department, but may be changed by store management based on the needs of the store. Requests to be scheduled off for a specific day require advanced notification and approval by supervisor. Hourly Full Time or Part Time: Generally scheduled 39 to 40 or 10 to 25 hours per week, respectively; more hours may be required based on the needs of the store. Scope This position reports to a Support Manager Back-End and does not have direct reports. Greets and acknowledges all customers in a friendly, professional manner; provides quick, responsive customer service; and understands and responds appropriately to basic customer and employee inquiries. - Completes Department of Transportation (DOT) reporting, maintains DOT certification, complies with DOT regulations, and maintains CDL compliance. - Ensures cleanliness, standard maintenance and repairs (e.g., Fills gas tank), and upkeep of delivery vehicles; and completes and /or verifies daily vehicle inspections and reports (i.e., Delivery Vehicle Inspection Reports (DVIRs)). - - Inspects condition of products (e.g., appliances) before loading for delivery or assisting customer with loading. Plans delivery activities and delivers merchandise for customers per corporate delivery program; unloads merchandise (e.g., carrying, using forklift); and obtains delivery signature from customers. - - Prints loading tickets from delivery system (e.g., Genesis) for customer delivery sign-offs. Plans delivery activities and executes them based on the daily delivery schedule; complies with corporate delivery program and procedures; and ensures trucks are loaded and that the delivery route begins on time. - - Notifies Manager/Manager on Duty (MOD) of customer complaints, dissatisfaction, and procedure violations. - Pulls merchandise, builds and bands delivery loads, and loads trucks (within the truck's payload) according to delivery order. - Blocks off aisles while moving freight. - Handles delivery calls by having the truck driver call the customer or contacts customers directly. - Retrieves merchandise and returns items to store at the customer's request. Observes all power equipment safety rules and regulations while assembling and/or performing pre-delivery inspections including observing all Hazmat rules and regulations in regard to power equipment fluids. - - Cares for store equipment by refueling and charging when necessary. - Assists customers as needed in locating, demonstrating, selecting, carrying, and/or loading merchandise. Effective Date: 1/17/2017 Page 2 of 4 Job Code: Department: 605 Job Title: Delivery Driver SH0055, SH9999 Job Description Key Responsibilities (Continued) - Ensures doors and gates are secured or monitored when open. - Accompanies drivers on deliveries. - Participates in training for Hazmat, equipment, and safety procedures. - Uses box bailer to compress cardboard that is sent to receiving. - Monitors power equipment use, ensures it adheres to Lowe's safety standards, and reports any violations to immediate supervisors. - Unloads, installs, and tests appliances. Participates in recycling programs by making sure proper materials (e.g., Appliances, Plastics, and Batteries) are recycled (e.g., Cardboard bale, Appliance trailer, or Front of store) as appropriate. - Communicates information to customers regarding all stock, special order merchandise, feature benefits, application, and warranty information. - - Updates delivery and route status (e.g., on-site, completed) on system (e.g., iPhone). Detects common signs of shoplifting, theft, and other security risks, and promptly communicates them to management and/or Loss Prevention. - Physical Requirements Lifts 26-100 pounds without assistance daily and also lifts 76-100 pounds with assistance many times a day. Agility : The ability to bend, stretch, twist, or reach out with the body, arms, or legs to perform job tasks. This includes the ability to move throughout all areas of the store (e.g., sales floor, receiving, register areas, lawn and garden), Lowe's property surrounding the store, or additional work areas. Climbing : The ability to climb, work, and carry items up and down ladders. Hand-Eye Coordination : The ability to coordinate one's eyes with one's fingers, wrists, or arms to move, carry, or manipulate objects or to perform other job-related tasks. Manual Dexterity : The ability to make quick, accurate, skillful, coordinated movements of one hand, one hand in coordination with its arm, or two hands to grasp, place, move, or assemble objects. AND Ability to read, write, and perform basic arithmetic (addition, subtraction). AND Minimum 21 years of age. Preferred Qualifications 3 months experience operating a forklift or Moffett onloading/offloading a vehicle. 1 year experience driving a semi-truck/trailer OR certification from a driving school. 6 months experience performing in-home delivery OR retail customer service.
