Job DescriptionJob SummarySplicers/Installers are responsible for installing, preparing and troubleshooting fiber optic cables. They will understand the different types of cables, equipment, cable color codes and techniques used for spicing and installing fiber. They will be required to test, troubleshoot and care for any issues related to fiber optic cables. General Accountabilities

  • Manage you crew and jobs in a safely, efficient and productive manner.
  • Comply and enforce company and industry safety rules and operating procedures.
  • Maintaining a positive attitude always, including in adverse situations and be a positive influence within and outside the company.
  • The ability to perform and understand company core value.
  • Read and understand blueprints/construction prints including splicing docs.
  • The ability and job knowledge to proficiently complete and connect fiber optic cables.
  • The ability to preform optical domain reflection reports and read.
  • The ability to operate all computer programs.
  • Operate all necessary tools related in the utility industry.
  • Be proficient in reading job prints and the ability to change work tasks to fit what is needed on actual job site in the field, having the knowledge of individual customer spec.
  • Understand what it takes to complete each project efficiently.
  • Be able to manage a job to ensure projected hours per project are met or are less than the projected man hours on for that project.
  • Be able to complete all job reporting with redlines and reports.
  • Record sequences and GPS coordinates at each location including red lines.
  • Must be able to communicate/coordinate with customer and/or homeowners affected by the process of completing a project.
  • Work closely with the inventory manager to assure all materials used are accounted for daily and returned.
  • Communicate with manager for scheduling equipment maintenance and repair in a timely fashion.
  • Check and inspect that materials are not damaged, inspect equipment, check vehicle for proper operating conditions, properly secure all equipment, and properly stock materials (checking all fluids)
  • Clean job site during and upon completion of work and properly dispose of debris.
  • Able to lift heavy objects, physical labor under adverse field conditions.
  • Manage and train employees.
  • Keeping track of any receipts and turning them in.
  • Keeping track of crew members daily attendance (this can be done by placing the names of the individuals that are on your jobsite each day on your daily field log. It is important that the daily sheet is filled out correctly. ALL JOBS for the day are to be listed and the times/hours recorded correctly on each job.
  • ANY DAMAGE must be reported with the following steps: damage report form including photos are to be filled out and turned in managers within 24 hours.
  • Installs, connects, tests and/or repair/adjust equipment for customers.
  • Inspects or tests cables to locate any faults or malfunctions.
  • Splices cables, using hand tools, epoxy, or mechanical equipment.
  • Measures signal strength, using electronic test equipment.
  • Places insulation over conductors or seals splices with moisture-proof covering.
  • Strings cables between structures and lines and pulls lines to proper tension.
  • Installs equipment to maintain the strength of communications transmissions.

    • Education: High school diploma or equivalent
    • Experience: A few months to one year of related experience
    • CDL or Chauffer's License Skills
