Job Description:

The Quality Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations (assembly and/or machining) which includes the quality control functions, control plan compliance, quality testing and quality audit for responsible production shift(s). The candidate should monitor the process compliance and be able to identify any emerging issue, promptly communicate and develop a containment strategy to protect the customer.  He/she should lead all quality audits (torque, functional, dock audit, etc.) to support quality system. Candidate should be available to work all shifts.
 

Job responsibilities include but not limited to:

1. First responder to floor quality calls. Oversee manufacturing floor and monitor processes to ensure quality. Respond to potential quality issues, and gather important critical information necessary to properly assess the situation, and make the determination if downstream customer is impacted. Develop initial containment strategy for emerging issues, quarantine components/engines as necessary to stop the flow of defects to the customer.  Work with production operations to quickly determine the dirty/clean points, and release any conforming material. - Engage other plant resources (Product Engineering, Supplier Quality, Plant Engineering) for Quality Control issues, to help determine the potential scope of the problem- Work with Product Engineering for disposition on of non-conforming material. - Issue, request and approve process deviations as necessary and push for closure. Manage the activities of the 3rd part inspection at the end of line & on the outbound shipping dock. Ensure corporate standard(s) are followed. Attend production meetings and ensure clear communication handoffs from shift to shift. Ensure part cleanliness checks are completed per requirements and reactions are taken per corporate standard(s). Ensure EMP validations are performed per corporate standard(s). Issue Temporary Tolerance Waivers as appropriate when corporate design release engineering is not available for approval.
 
2. Manage / directly supervise CMM lab personnel, gage techs, dock, functional and torque auditors. Ensure daily audits are completed per corporate requirements for Functional Audit and Torque Audits. Ensure functional audit severities L10 or above have corrective actions with assigned leader. Ensure torque audit failures have corrective actions issued.
 
3. Manage Quarantines / Lot Release, manage quarantine follow-up through repairs, testing and release. Responsible for record management and release of Quarantines. Records of quality issue resolutions, testing/inspection activities must be documented to support the release of quarantine. Follow corporate standard(s). Number of parts affected. Who authorized release / TSA (RE). - UPS/RCA Q#. - Red/green lists. # of engines affected. Dirty and clean points. Action taken (scrap, dyno, repair). Set up short term countermeasures for nonconforming conditions found, or when the customer is at risk. Provide Quality documentation as required (e.g. Quality Alerts).
 
4. Manage hourly Bargaining Unit (BU) process auditors (technical WCM) as assigned - Perform daily process audits for machining and assembly based on corporate requirements, KPI's, control plans, and plant performance. Ensure operations repair activities at each line are followed.
 
5. Validate blue dot reintroduction components are acceptable for use, review control plans for frequency and is an approver on control plan documentation.  Compile FTC/FTQ info as required (Daily, Monthly, etc.). Maintain current and accurate data for quarantines, repairs, and teardowns. - Populate data for Heinrich pyramid, FTC/FTQ, quarantine, dock audit, functional audit, torque audit, dyno/lot release, EMP, and cleanliness data for daily plant hot sheet reporting. Approve teardown scrap in RCA (Daily). Dock Audit release engines from quarantine after repair(s) are performed. Perform QMAT's, SMAT's, EMAT's on regular, required basis (typically monthly). Enter SharePoint requests for FA Auditor assignments. Review and approve SWI or SOP in MQAS for machining or assembly. - RCA initial setup and maintenance. Record in RCA any campaign or special offline repairs. Maintain certifications for torque auditors, FA auditors, and elsewhere as required.
