Our strong operations and commercialization expertise result in high volume availability of competitive, efficient products that truly drive change.BorgWarner PowerDrive Systems is currently looking for "dynamic, results driven" individual to join as a Lead Systems Engineer, Power Electronics at our Indiana Technical Center (ITC) in Kokomo, Indiana.In this role, and under direct supervision of the Systems Engineering Manager, Electrification, the Lead Systems Engineer, Power Electronics is responsible for leading, Reviewing, Planning, Coordinating, executing requirements initiatives with the customer, and assigned project team on new and innovative power electronics products.Job Duties: Lead the system design for automotive power electronics projects including high voltage inverters, dc/dc converters, and/or on-board chargers as well as their sub-systems Mentor, teach, train less experienced engineers Participate in planning, definition, and high-level systems design of the Product/Platform, including reuse and design alternative evaluations Provide primary customer interface and technical negotiations regarding product definition, requirements allocation, and product development, including expected behavior of the system Lead technical negotiations for customer change requests, including cost and timing impacts of the change Define compliance to satisfy critical non-functional requirements No direct people line responsibility Provide technical leadership to a multi-disciplined design team Define, develop and document internal systems requirements (subsystems and their interfaces), allocate responsibilities to product development team and communicate requirements Provide oversight and foster Built-In Quality Oversee ASPICE compliance, including process definition and execution, requirements allocation, implementation tracking and bi-directional traceability between requirements & verification results Oversee troubleshooting of product failures Define and support product evaluation and validation activities, including leading and overseeing check out and debug of new hardware & software in a lab bench environment using bench instrumentation and tools. Communicate project technical status internally and externally Work with customer to establish and capture requirements in documents or Simulink Models Work with design team to create Product Definition Documents to capture product requirements implementation and verification methods AGILE: Participate in Program Increment (PI) Planning, System Demos, and Retrospective events Requirements: Bachelor's Degree in engineering field, preferably electrical engineering 8+ years engineering experience in systems engineering 5+ years' experience with power electronics products 3+ years of experience with Polarion or other equivalent tools Familiarity with electric/hybrid vehicles and/or their applications Familiarity with general lab equipment, Scopes, Meters, Debuggers Knowledge of safety analysis for automotive systems, ISO 26262 Functional Safety, DFMEA, FMEA, FMEDA and FTA analysis Knowledge of ASPICE, JIRA, AGILE Excellent oral and written communication skills Strong interpersonal skills Some travel (less than 10%) and a flexible work schedule on occasion Preferred: Experience with developing architecture(s) for automotive power electronics applications Familiarity with electric drives and electric machine controls Familiarity with inverter, dc/dc converter and/or on-board charger topologies Familiarity with development of automotive embedded systems, system simulation and modeling tools (e.g. MATLAB/Simulink), Familiarity with development of on-board diagnostics, Familiarity with design approaches to meet functional safety requirements, Familiarity with structured problem-solving techniques, automotive data buses (e.g. CAN) Familiarity of automotive microprocessors is preferred BorgWarner Competencies: Drive for Results Decision Quality Interpersonal Savvy Problem Solving Conflict Management Safety This position will adhere to the Global Star Safety Program, including safety rules, practices and training as outlined in the BorgWarner Safety Policy Manual.
