Our strong operations and commercialization expertise result in high volume availability of competitive, efficient products that truly drive change.BorgWarner PowerDrive Systems is currently looking for dynamic, results driven individual to join as a Lead Systems Engineer, Power Electronics at our Indiana Technical Center (ITC) in Kokomo, Indiana.In this role, and under direct supervision of the Systems Engineering Manager, Electrification, the Lead Systems Engineer, Power Electronics is responsible for leading, Reviewing, Planning, Coordinating, executing requirements initiatives with the customer, and assigned project team on new and innovative power electronics products.Job Duties:Lead the system design for automotive power electronics projects including high voltage inverters, dc/dc converters, and/or on-board chargers as well as their sub-systemsMentor, teach, train less experienced engineersParticipate in planning, definition, and high-level systems design of the Product/Platform, including reuse and design alternative evaluationsProvide primary customer interface and technical negotiations regarding product definition, requirements allocation, and product development, including expected behavior of the systemLead technical negotiations for customer change requests, including cost and timing impacts of the changeDefine compliance to satisfy critical non-functional requirementsNo direct people line responsibilityProvide technical leadership to a multi-disciplined design teamDefine, develop and document internal systems requirements (subsystems and their interfaces), allocate responsibilities to product development team and communicate requirementsProvide oversight and foster Built-In QualityOversee ASPICE compliance, including process definition and execution, requirements allocation, implementation tracking and bi-directional traceability between requirements & verification resultsOversee troubleshooting of product failuresDefine and support product evaluation and validation activities, including leading and overseeing check out and debug of new hardware & software in a lab bench environment using bench instrumentation and tools.Communicate project technical status internally and externallyWork with customer to establish and capture requirements in documents or Simulink ModelsWork with design team to create Product Definition Documents to capture product requirements implementation and verification methodsAGILE: Participate in Program Increment (PI) Planning, System Demos, and Retrospective eventsRequirements:Bachelors Degree in engineering field, preferably electrical engineering8+ years engineering experience in systems engineering5+ years experience with power electronics products3+ years of experience with Polarion or other equivalent toolsFamiliarity with electric/hybrid vehicles and/or their applicationsFamiliarity with general lab equipment, Scopes, Meters, DebuggersKnowledge of safety analysis for automotive systems, ISO 26262 Functional Safety, DFMEA, FMEA, FMEDA and FTA analysisKnowledge of ASPICE, JIRA, AGILEExcellent oral and written communication skillsStrong interpersonal skillsSome travel (less than 10%) and a flexible work schedule on occasionPreferred:Experience with developing architecture(s) for automotive power electronics applicationsFamiliarity with electric drives and electric machine controlsFamiliarity with inverter, dc/dc converter and/or on-board charger topologiesFamiliarity with development of automotive embedded systems, system simulation and modeling tools MATLAB/Simulink),Familiarity with development of on-board diagnostics,Familiarity with design approaches to meet functional safety requirements,Familiarity with structured problem-solving techniques, automotive data buses CAN)Familiarity of automotive microprocessors is preferredBorgWarner Competencies:Drive for ResultsDecision QualityInterpersonal SavvyProblem SolvingConflict ManagementSafety This position will adhere to the Global Star Safety Program, including safety rules, practices and training as outlined in the BorgWarner Safety Policy Manual.
