Department: Research and Technology Location: Kokomo, INBusiness Purpose: Perform and execute standard assigned tasks and testing duties and provide support to moderately complex testing activities, maintaining current and future testing activities considering safety, quality, productivity, and cost with some direct supervision.Role Qualifications: (Required & Preferred)Education: High School Diploma w/some advanced Education (R), Associates or Bachelor's degree (P)Experience:High School Diploma with some advanced education and at least 3 years of pertinent industrial or laboratory experience (R), Associates Degree in a technical field and 2 years of laboratory experience in High Temperature testing (P).Areas of Knowledge: Safety (R), Laboratory Workflow (R), Calibration & Specification (P), High Temperature testing (P), Heat Treatment (P), Sample Preparation (P), Electronic Controllers (P), Equipment Maintenance (P), Chemistry (P), and Metallurgy (P). Skills:Perform and execute standard assigned tasks and testing duties with some advanced functions, maintaining current and future testing activities considering safety, quality, productivity, and cost with some direct supervision.Global Accountabilities for the Role: Safety: Adhere to all corporate, departmental, and area safety procedures, policies and guidelines, demonstrating safe work practices, good housekeeping practices, and use of required PPE. Assist in maintaining an environmentally safe workplace through initiative and adherence to environmental policies and adherence to all area safe practices, JSA's, Lock/Tag/Try procedures and environmental policies. Attend, and participate at all scheduled safety meetings. Quality: Perform assigned tasks as called out in procedures or on work requests with minimal mistakes and with some supervision. Follow the established procedures and guidelines for all tasks performed. Report to area Supervisor/Lead Technician any mistakes or procedural inconsistencies for their information and /or disposition. Assist area Supervisor/Lead Technician on improving existing processes, developing new procedures, correcting mistakes or procedural inconsistencies in the developed guidelines Ensure calibrated equipment is within calibration cycle. Productivity: Effectively perform all assigned tasks per defined quality level, priority, and time. Consult with Supervisor/Lead Technician to plan tasks effectively to meet all departmental, area and project commitments. Provide assistance within immediate area of responsibility when assigned tasks are finished. Cost: Avoid excessive waste of material and/or supplies by performing tasks right the first time. Notify Supervisor/Lead Technician of low supply levels to ensure the continued operation of the lab.Specific Accountabilities for the Role: Processes Used - Perform standardized testing and analysis functions in High Temperature Lab and other areas as assigned considering Safety, Quality, Productivity, and Cost. These include but are not limited to sample preparation, compiling and posting data, equipment verification, quality control testing, and specialty testing as assigned. Provide technical support using and repairing test equipment within the High Temperature Lab while following established procedures and guidelines. Assist Supervisor and Lead Technicians in developing process, equipment, and procedural improvements and project activities. Maintain a clean and organized work area. Communication - Effectively and clearly communicates and contributes personal and professional knowledge to enhance skills of others. Receptive to direction and training necessary to meet the qualifications required for the assigned tasks. Accepts feedback in a positive manner and encourages two-way communications for ideas, improvements, and continual feedback. Serve as a role model by attending daily safety meetings and correcting safety concerns when they arise, participating in safety audit and motivating others to achieve results through example and encouragement. Cross-functional Relations - Recognize responsibilities based on organizational structure, and communicate with the appropriate individuals (persons responsible). Assist Supervisor and Lead Technicians in process/procedural improvement initiatives, maintaining laboratory procedures, equipment, equipment calibration, and training to meet internal/external quality requirement accreditation mandates (NADCAP, ISO, etc.) and industry standards (ASTM, ASM, etc.).
