flexible with weekend requirements. Travelers must be able to work
50% of the weekends in their contract. Travelers must agree to the
possibility of precepting and/or being assigned students to shadow
them during the assignment. Description: This is an
orthopedic/trauma medical-surgical unit. Approximately 20% of
patients are for scheduled hip and knee surgeries, which are
collaboratively managed with the orthopedic team. The remaining
patient population includes trauma cases from motor vehicle
accidents, stabbings, falls, and other emergencies. Patients may
come from emergency surgery or intensive care, often with drains
and tubes in place. This is a high acuity, fast-paced unit that
requires teamwork and strong communication skills. Charge nurse
responsibilities may be required, pending operational needs, along
with training and resources provided. Unit travelers may be
expected to float to different levels of care, which may include
medical-surgical, progressive care, and intensive care units. The
staffing ratio is typically 1 nurse to 5-6 patients. Candidates
must be willing to float to different departments or affiliate
hospitals as needed. Travelers are expected to manage a variety of
patient care tasks including, but not limited to, blood product
administration, telemetry monitoring, tracheostomy care, and wound
care. Experience in a trauma level I unit is preferred, alongside
an ability to function as a preceptor if necessary. The environment
emphasizes collaboration with interdisciplinary support teams,
including physical therapy, respiratory services, and social
services. Candidates need to have strong clinical skills relevant
to the orthopedic and trauma patient populations. Flexibility and
adaptability are essential attributes for potential candidates.
Consecutive contracts may require a designated break to reset
travel eligibility. Local residents may have specific rules
regarding travel status. All travelers must be in compliance with
staffing policies, including mandatory floating. Requirements
