Mi?Tech Tungsten Metals Picture your day: you review a work order,
study the blueprint, and plan your setups. You dial in a manual
lathe, change chucks, indicate the workpiece, and take precise OD
and ID turns. Next, you move to the mill—sweep the table, set the
head, mount arbors and collets, and execute face, angular, form,
straddle, and gang milling. You’ll index—direct, simple/plain,
compound, differential, and angular—to cut exact features,
validating every step with micrometers, calipers, height gages,
indicators, and comparators. Throughout, you work independently to
exact technical specifications and production standards to produce
precision metal components for demanding applications. What you’ll
do Independently set up and run manual lathe jobs from work orders,
blueprints, drawings, templates, or layouts. Set machine heads,
sweep tables, and change chucks on lathes; select and fit milling
attachments and tooling (arbors, adaptors, collets, vices, circular
table, indexing head, tailstock, vertical milling attachment).
Perform cutting, drilling, milling, boring, and broaching to spec.
Execute lathe operations: OD/ID turning, tapping, threading, and
reaming. Perform face, angular, form, straddle, and gang milling
operations. Apply indexing methods: direct, plain/simple, compound,
differential, and angular; solve numerical indexing problems as
needed. Read and interpret mechanical drawings and technical
documentation with precision. Indicate vises and workpieces;
coordinate and oversee complex, multi-step machining operations.
Use strong knowledge of machine tools and machining operations to
ensure quality, accuracy, and repeatability. Demonstrate precision,
attention to detail, and strong problem-solving skills. What you
bring 2–5 years of manual machining experience in a manufacturing
environment. Better-than-average mathematical ability and proven
proficiency in manual machining skills. Familiarity with metrology
tools: calipers, micrometers, height gages, indicators, and
comparators. Preferred: Sandvik Coromant Academy Metal Cutting
Technology or equivalent training. Preferred: NMIS certifications
in machine technologies or equivalent education. Machines &
