Job Description Job Description Bachelor's or Master's degree in Special Education, active Special Education Teacher license and minimum 1 years Special Education Teacher experience required. This position supports students with significant and severe special education needs in an elementary school setting in Indianapolis, IN. The role focuses on providing specialized instruction and support to students enrolled in the ALPHA program, which serves children from kindergarten through 12th grade with complex disabilities such as those requiring wheelchair assistance. The caseload includes eight students, though not all are present simultaneously, allowing for targeted, individualized support. Key Responsibilities: Deliver tailored instruction and interventions aligned with students Individualized Education Programs (IEPs). Collaborate with classroom paraprofessionals (1-2 per classroom) to support student learning and safety. Monitor and document student progress and adjust strategies to meet developmental goals. Engage in multidisciplinary team meetings and coordinate with families to ensure comprehensive support. Maintain a safe, inclusive, and accessible classroom environment accommodating all physical needs. Qualifications and Experience: Valid Interventionist License (intense or mild/mod) is required. Experience working with students with severe disabilities and complex needs preferred. Ability to handle wheelchair-bound students and provide necessary physical support. Strong communication and teamwork skills essential for collaboration with paraeducators and multidisciplinary staff. Commitment to fostering an inclusive and supportive educational environment.
